Summary:
As an integral member of the leadership team, the Assistant Manager will support the Pharmacy Manager in overseeing daily operations of the compounding lab. This role combines hands-on compounding responsibilities with leadership, supervision, and administrative duties to ensure excellence in quality, safety, and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support lab staff in the preparation of compounded products (creams, gels, suspensions, capsules, lozenges, suppositories, injections, ophthalmias etc.)
- Coordinate workflow to ensure timely and accurate completion of orders
- Oversee inventory management and procurement of supplies
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal quality control procedures
- Train, mentor, and provide performance feedback to lab staff
- Support the Pharmacy Manager with scheduling, reporting, and process improvements
- Arrange equipment maintenance and repair, oversee cleaning protocols, and ensure a safe working environment
- Oversee packaging and shipping procedures to ensure product integrity is maintained
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a pharmacy or compounding lab environment (leadership or supervisory experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of compounding procedures, equipment, and regulatory requirements
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
- Proficiency with pharmacy software and computer systems
- Strong attention to detail and a quality-first mindset
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Completion of Health Canada Division 5 and GCP required upon employment
- Completion of Dangerous Goods Transport Certificate required upon employment
