What You Will Do
Join our team as the Pharmacy Systems and Stewardship Manager in Pharmacy at The Ottawa Hospital. This role oversees the work in medication stewardship and multiple pharmacy systems to support and optimize the clinical pharmacy practice. The vision in Pharmacy is to achieve effective and safe medication therapy for each patient.
Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Systems and Stewardship Manager will lead and manage the pharmacy stewardship and pharmacy systems to ensure pharmacy staff are able to achieve the vision of the Pharmacy Program. Throughout the course of your duties, you will be required to:
- Lead and support both antimicrobial and other medication agents stewardship initiatives; collaboration with leaders from other disciplines to accomplish these initiatives;
- Lead pharmacy clinical and operational support groups including ambulatory pharmacists group, pharmacy research support (OHRI), drug information, pharmacy systems/computer support;
- Manage medication inventory backorders and shortages;
- Provide leadership to the department staff in terms of evaluating performance, professional development, coaching, mentoring, and discipline of staff members;
- Develop and maintain the appropriate skills and competencies to meet departmental objectives;
- Enhancing and sharing medication expertise through a dynamic teaching environment, continuing education, and mentorship.
What You Will Bring
Undergraduate Degree B.Sc. Pharmacy;
Minimum of five (5) years related hospital pharmacy experience;
Licensed with the Ontario College of Pharmacists;
Accredited Canadian Pharmacy Resident Certificate or equivalent;
In-depth knowledge of hospital practice, drug distribution systems, and safe medication practices;
Experience or training in budget management and policy development;
Superior communication, conflict management, project management, and problem-solving skills.
You will stand out with:
- Masters in Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy or equivalent;
- EPIC experience;
- Experience in change management principles;
- Proficiency in English and French – oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
