Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner - School-Based Health Program will be responsible for administering care to children within the school-based clinic setting, as well as family members of enrolled students.
In addition, The Nurse Practitioner- SBHC, Manager (YES Prep/KIPP) will also serve as a direct manager and mentor to other Nurse Practitioners in the program, including new providers that join. In addition, they will provide leadership in new school initiatives and problem solving issues that arise in their respective school district. They will be responsible for traveling to visit and meet with other Nurse Practitioners at their campuses. They will be attend Leadership Meetings for School Based Health as well as collaboration meetings in their school campuses.
Essential Duties & Functions
- Follow Nurse Practice Act for their licensure.
- Will perform routine pediatric care in school-based community clinics including medical procedures and drug treatments according to procedures, policy, and protocols.
- Assist the Medical Director and Director of School Based Clinics in the ongoing assessment of client services and will report any need for improvement in those areas. Work with the team in ongoing clinic development and implementation.
- Document all client care as appropriate in a timely manner.
- Assess, treat, and provide medical services to clinic clients.
Additional responsibilities as a Manager:
- Serve act as direct manager to the NPs in each school district (KIPP or YES Prep)
- Work in conjunction with Clinical Director in training new NPs coming on board, existing NPs and provide ongoing mentoring and coaching
- Travels to other campuses to visit with their employees to trouble-shoot and mentor
- Engages and attends School Based Health Leadership meetings, attend school district level collaboration meetings
Required Education, Certifications, Licenses, & Training (minimum Requirements)
- Current license from the Texas Board of Nursing
- Completion of degree program at an accredited school.
Desirable Education And/or Experience
2-5 yrs experience is preferred
School-based clinic experience is highly desired.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And/or Abilities (minimum Requirements)
Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and be adept in decision making responsibilities.
