Emergency Medicine Physician - Westview Community Hospital

Responsibilities/Duties:

Alberta Health Services in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, is inviting applications from Emergency Medicine Physicians to join the Department of Emergency Medicine in the Edmonton Zone. There are up to three FTE total (0.5 or 1.0 FTE) in permanent and/or 1-year locum positions available with a start date of July 01, 2026.

Shifts will be 8 hours, covering days/evenings/nights/weekends. A full-time schedule generally represents 10-12 clinical shifts per month.

The Facility

Westview Health Centre is a suburban hospital located approximately 20 minutes west of Edmonton and provides 24h emergency department services, a family medicine inpatient service, day surgery/endoscopy, outpatient IV clinic, wound care, minor fracture clinic, public health, and a variety of other programs.

The emergency department is composed of 10 monitored beds, a resuscitation room, and 10 non-monitored treatment spaces including a rapid assessment area. X-ray and Lab are on site 24/7, with ultrasound available during the weekdays.

Qualifications:

The candidate will have exceptional communication skills and a passion for quality and patient safety. They will be considered a strong clinician by their peers. The successful applicant will have, or be eligible for, certification in Emergency Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada or the College of Family Physicians Canada (FRCPC or CCFP-EM) and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Residents must be eligible to write the appropriate exam at the next sitting. Family physicians with CCFP certification and emergency medicine experience in a rural setting will also be considered. ACLS, PALS, and NRP competency are required.
