The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for a Clinical Academic Medicine Health Services Plan (AMHSP) position to be based at the University of Alberta. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff.

Key accountabilities of the AMHSP position will include, but will not be limited to:

  • clinical work at the KEC
  • clinical service
  • clinical teaching
  • classroom teaching
  • 10% protected research time

There are on-call expectations for the Endocrinology service and Triage service. There will be an expectation of holding a weekly diabetes/insulin pump ambulatory multidisciplinary clinic within the Kaye Edmonton Clinic as well as general endocrine ambulatory clinics. Research interests can be variable, but patient oriented quality improvement/quality assurance approaches that support the Endocrine Division and are relevant to best patient outcomes are preferred. There is a need for leadership in the development of new Endocrine subspecialty clinics at the KEC, and having experience or interest in this innovation is desirable.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have an MD degree or equivalent, a minimum of 2 years of independent practice, and also be eligible or currently certified in Endocrinology with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada. Eligibility for or a current licence with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) is also required. The successful candidate will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process.
