Family Medicine Locum in Stratford (FHO/FHT)
Description
The STAR Family Health Team is recruiting a part-time permanent locum 1-2 days per week in addition to holiday coverage.
The Avon site (Stratford) includes 6 Family Physicians;
The O'Loane site (Stratford) includes 4 Family Physicians;
The Tavistock site includes 4 Family Physicians.
Collectively, the STAR Team includes:
- 14 Family Doctors
- 4 Nurse Practitioners
- 15 Nurses
- 5 Mental Health Clinicians
- 2 Registered Dieticians
- 2 Pharmacists
- 19 Administrators
Highlights:
- Opportunity available to join an existing clinic with established colleagues. We encourage locum work prior to joining.
- Physicians establishing a practice are eligible for income stabilization.
- Cost-sharing agreement (fixed cost split plus variable cost sharing) limits overhead to the ~22-25% range.
- Physician-owned and operated clinics.
- Telus PSS EMR with Ocean/e-Referral platform and option for online booking.
- Fibre optic internet with excellent remote access performance through local server/VPN.
- 1:1 to 1:2 nursing in addition to MOA/admin support and clinic manager; FHT funded NP and some allied health staff work on site.
- Treatment room for small procedures available.
- FHT affiliation allows patients access to FHT programs, individual MH counseling/SW, registered dieticians, memory clinic, and respiratory therapy among other services.
- After-hours clinic/call is approximately 1 in 14 weekdays call is very light with no nursing home or inpatient coverage.
- Clinics only; no ER, inpatient, or OB coverage is required; opportunity for ER, hospitalist, surgical assist, etc. certainly exists in the city and region.
- Stratford is home to an excellent and collegial specialist base with access to tertiary care centers at LHSC and KW area for additional support.
- New FHO physician will be expected to maintain a roster of ~1000 patients or more.
- Clinic has a 'STAR' physician system to help cover your patients while you are away in addition to after-hours availability.
- Physicians typically may take up to six weeks of vacation and additional professional development time without the need to hire a locum through cross-coverage arrangements for labs and urgent messages/faxes.
- Accommodation is available in Stratford for locum physicians.
