GP Surgical Assistant

The Minor Surgery Center Oakville is a practice located near the new Oakville Hospital that performs excisions of skin cancers, lumps, and bumps (lipomas/cysts/skin tags/etc) and minor hand surgeries such as carpal tunnel releases and trigger fingers. We have an outstanding staff of over 20 surgeons. We have 6 functioning minor procedure rooms where the surgeries are performed under local anesthesia.

We are looking for a part-time family doctors to help as surgical assistants every Tuesday and Wednesday. This is a fee-for-service structure where the assistant will directly bill OHIP, and the surgical assistant will keep 100% of billings. Typical days are 9 am to 4 pm or 10 am to 5 pm with a 30-minute lunch break.

Expected duties include prepping and draping, holding retractors, cutting sutures, applying dressings, and helping the nurse with room turnover. It is a positive if the assistant can suture; however, we are always happy to teach.
