Description
Alberta Health Services, Central Zone, and the Department of General Internal Medicine at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, invites applications for a General Internal Medicine Physician to establish a full-time practice in the community of Red Deer. Peri-operative experience or fellowship would be an asset, and there is an opportunity for the right candidate to have substantial participation in a provincially funded peri-operative hip and knee clinic. This position requires a scope of practice that includes: Community Clinic, Inpatient & Outpatient Services, Emergency Consults, and Specialist On-Call Coverage.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Reside in and have their primary residence within the community of Red Deer;
- Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services;
- Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies;

Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of Medicine;
Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs;
Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned;
Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care.
The GIM physicians are expected to follow their own patients once discharged to the community (if required, and unless other arrangements made). In addition, the candidate will be expected to participate in the outpatient clinics. It is strongly recommended that the successful candidate make arrangements for an outpatient/community office, separate from the hospital, with charting and administration services. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.
