Description

The Department of Medicine and the Division of Respirology at the University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital is looking for an Academic Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) clinician researcher.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will focus on developing a state-of-the-art ILD program supported by an ILD pathologist, ILD chest radiologist and Interventional pulmonary program specializing in ILD.
  • Currently, our program includes an established respirology rheumatology clinic and monthly ILD multidisciplinary rounds for the region.
  • Clinically, the incumbent will serve as an expert resource in ILD for other respirologists in the region.
  • They will co-chair regular multi-disciplinary discussion rounds in conjunction with colleagues in Radiology and Pathology.
  • Other clinical accountabilities include participation in the inpatient and outpatient Respiratory Medicine services.

Academically

  • The incumbent will focus 40-50% of their time to research in ILD and will participate in educational activities related to ILD for medical students, post-graduate trainees and community physicians.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must hold an MD degree; be a member of, or be eligible to be a member of, the Canadian Medical Protective Association; have, or be eligible for certification in Respirology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and have, or be eligible for, licensure in Ontario.

Fellowship training in ILD (minimum of one year) at a recognized academic centre is required. A masters degree supporting clinical trials is an asset.

The income for this position is derived from a variety of sources including but not limited to clinical billings (fee-for-service), salary support (AFP) as well as honorariums/stipends.
