Your Opportunity:
The MCH Surgery Program is looking for dedicated and committed LPN's that are eager to learn about post-operative patient care management. The Casual employee will provide safe and compassionate care for a wide variety of patient populations across all surgery Units: 5 East, 5 West, 6 East, 6 West, and Surgical Day Ward. This would include patients under orthopedic, general, urology, gynecology, and plastics surgery services as well as medicine services where applicable. The successful candidate will gain the skills to care for all types of surgical patients and the nursing assessments and interventions that encompass these services, as well as working within high-functioning team environments.

Description:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies, and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required.
- Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required.
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
- At least one year of recent (within the last two years) acute inpatient medical or surgical nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Able to adapt to, and excel in a wide variety of inpatient environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent assessment and organizational skills.
- Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC) Line education an asset.
- Negative pressure wound therapy education as an asset.
- Other education or experience useful to this highly flexible position considered an asset.
