About The Job

The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse provides:

  • Nursing care to psychiatric patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers
  • Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence-based practice in nursing practice
  • Maintains and advances own clinical competence
  • Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned

About this Location

1South at RIH is an acute psychiatric unit that provides acute psychiatric care to individuals across the full spectrum of care; early psychosis, general psychiatric disorders, addictions, and geriatric. The unit has a multidisciplinary structured program consisting of individual psychotherapy, ECT, psychopharmacology, psycho-educational programs, group therapy, occupational therapy programs, recreational activities, family assessments and therapy, and behavior therapy. The programs are tailored to meet each patient’s individual needs. Length of stay varies from 1-3 weeks.
