Position Title: Registered Nurse

Reports to: Director of Care/Associate Director of Care

Job Location: Brockville, Ontario

Salary Range / Classification: $36.06 to $54.59 per hour

Job Type: Part-time, permanent

Availability / Rotation: Ability and willingness to work a rotation: all shifts - days, evenings, nights: weekends & holidays. Availability for call-in shifts

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Director of Care, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing our residents with quality care. In providing a range of nursing care to residents with a variety of physical and / or behavioural concerns, the RN will collaborate with health team members to facilitate positive outcomes for the resident.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care in accordance with administrative policies, physician orders, and the Standards of Nursing Practice as described by the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Determine, collect and organize the information required for care planning by utilizing all available resources, reporting pertinent information to other members of the multidisciplinary health care team
  • Collaborate and participate with other members of the health care team in care planning and to act as a resource person to other staff members
  • Assess a resident's condition by recognizing and interpreting signs and symptoms and, where appropriate, initiate remedial health measures
  • Assess, plan and implement appropriate interventions, and evaluate nursing care for individual residents

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Experience working in Long Term Care desirable
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Skill in planning, co-ordinating and supervising the work of other nursing personnel

Soft Skills:

  • The ability to act as a role model with staff, residents, and members of the public. This includes interacting tactfully and courteously with residents, families and visitors, and encouraging effective teamwork as a positive role model for other staff and students
  • Provide effective support and supervision for the RPN, non-registered staff, support staff and students
