Duties
Under the general direction of the Manager, Patient Care Services, the Registered Nurse assists in the delivery of treatment services and promotes healthy lifestyle choices for Schizophrenia Inpatient unit. The nurse functions interdependently with the other members of the Team within a health promotion framework.
- Conduct comprehensive client assessments (includes discipline specific and multi-disciplinary assessment instruments, client self-assessment, family assessment in the environment of the client’s choice, reports by other service providers, etc).
- In collaboration with other Schizophrenia Inpatient unit Team members and the client, develop individualized client treatment/rehabilitation plans.
- Assume responsibility for the treatment, rehabilitation and support of assigned clients within the context of the Schizophrenia Inpatient unit Team.
- Provide direct assistance with symptom management (includes preparation and administering of medications, individual clinical relationship, etc).
Qualifications
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
- BScN is preferred.
- Current practice according to the Standards of Practice for Nurses in Ontario.
- Minimum of 3 years nursing experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing.
