Description

Edgewater Gardens is a beautiful 64 bed not-for-profit long term care home located in Dunnville. Edgewater Gardens was built in 2006 and has a unique layout with 64 resident rooms, 58 of which are private. We strive for quality resident care and a comfortable home-like environment.

Edgewater Gardens is looking for a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) that has a passion for seniors care. The position is for 20 hours weekly, 40 hours bi-weekly on a continual basis. Edgewater is flexible with the hours for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Current membership in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Experience in geriatric care or willingness to learn essential
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with residents and families
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other members of the health care team
  • Ability to recognize changes in residents’ usual conditions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills an asset
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, residents, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with Edgewater Garden policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing mandatory education as required
  • Commitment to the Mission, Vision and Values of Edgewater Gardens LTC
  • Excellent customer service skills

Role:

  • 70% of the role constitutes front line resident care including in-depth assessment of all new admissions and current residents on an ongoing basis.
  • Ability to review medications and reduce usage where applicable
  • Dedication to maintain or improve the quality standards within the home
  • Must work well with the multidisciplinary team including the Medical Director
  • 30% of the role constitutes researching best practice, education for residents, families and staff as well as participating in important internal meetings such as weekly multidisciplinary report and quarterly professional advisory committee meetings.
  • Ability to research best practice and aid Director of Care with policy and program creation

Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Salary: From $61.12 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
