Location: 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, ON
Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8:30AM-4:30PM
Salary Range: $46.00 to $54.59 per hour as per the collective agreement

Calling all Public Health Nurses and Baccalaureate prepared Registered Nurses! We are hiring PHNs at Peel! Make a real difference every day as a Public Health Nurse (PHN) in our Family Health Division. In this role, you’ll promote health, prevent disease, and support individuals and families across all stages of life. You’ll work directly in the community, tackling health inequities and helping people access the care and resources they need to thrive.
Team Specific Requirements
- Experience working with individuals and families during the preconception, prenatal and postpartum stages, as well as with infants and families with young children (0- 6 years) to reduce disparities and promote early child development.
- Knowledge of maternal-child health, parent-child relationships, transition to parenthood, early child development, and health promotion models and principles.
- Experience engaging and maintaining partnerships with diverse communities to plan, implement and evaluate interventions that support children and families to build a strong foundation for lifelong health and well-being.
- Experience in tele-practice, home visiting, case management, facilitation and delivering presentations.
What You Will Do…
- Apply knowledge regarding concepts of population health status, inequities in health, determinants of health, and strategies for health protection and promotion to guide practice.
- Applies public health and nursing sciences to practice and synthesize knowledge from a broad range of theories, models and frameworks.
- Utilize research and evidence and apply critical appraisal skills to inform policies, programs and practice.
- Provide health information, teaching and counselling to individuals, groups, families and communities.

What We Require…
- A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or equivalent recognized by a Canadian University.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Previous nursing experience, or public/community health nursing experience, or public health consolidation placement as a part of a BScN degree is required.
- Current certification in CPR (BLS).
Skills And Abilities
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to act appropriately in situations requiring diplomacy and confidentiality.
- Relevant advocacy, negotiation, conflict management, and de-escalation skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently, as part of a team and participate in project work.
- Demonstrated skills related to assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation (individual and Program level).

Work Mode & Job Location: at 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, along with the ability to work offsite. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. Please note you will be required to travel daily to various community sites, including clinics, meetings and resource pick ups in Peel Region (Mississauga, Brampton & Caledon).
