Obstetrician & Gynecologist – Grande Prairie
Description
The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital is seeking an OBGYN Specialist Physician to join our physician group in Grande Prairie.
The successful candidate is preferred to be FRCSC (Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons Canada) or FRCSC eligible.
Interest in gynecological surgery is desired.
The new OBGYN physician will have Alberta Health Services hospital privileges.
The position will include hospital call.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Reside in and have as his/her primary residence, Grande Prairie
- Establish and maintain a full-time community-based practice within the community
- Provide hospital and call assistance as required
- Contribute to and participate in teaching programs and activities
- Contribute to and participate in other administrative duties as assigned
The successful candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing practice or by opening their own practice. This is the candidate's business choice and is not managed through the recruitment process.

The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital (GPRH) is a 208 bed acute care facility with a busy emergency department, ICU, NICU, and specialty services in OB/Gyn, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, ophthalmology, ENT, urology, palliative care, pediatrics, and psychiatry; hosting 10,000 discharges, approximately 55,000 emergency department visits, over 1,400 deliveries, and more than 9,000 surgical procedures annually.
Required Qualifications:
- Current Alberta Practice Permit or valid CPSA Letter of Eligibility to practice in the advertised position (proof of to be included with application)
- Have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
- Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP)
