Locum Pediatric Palliative Care Physician, Section of Pediatric Immunology, Hematology/Oncology, Palliative Care and Environmental Health (iHOPE)

There are 2 x 0.25 FTE (9-wk locums) positions available.

The IHOPE (Immunology, Hematology, Oncology and Palliative care) division which includes pediatric palliative medicine physicians as well as multiple others including pediatric hematologists, oncologists, immunologists and basic scientists. We have an active basic and clinical science program, with collaborations locally, nationally and internationally.

The clinical team, called the Pediatric Aid for Symptoms and Serious Illness Support Team (Peds ASSIST) Team, currently has 4 physicians, 3 nurses, a Clinical Nurse specialist, psychologist and social worker, with additional access to spiritual care. ASSIST provides interdisciplinary care to infants, children, adolescents, and select young adults with serious illness and their families within the Stollery Children's Hospital, and within the broader Northern Alberta zone, both in hospital and at home. The team also provides Perinatal Palliative Care consultations at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Qualifications

  • MD degree (or equivalent)
  • Completed subspecialty training in Pediatrics and have experience in pediatric palliative care
  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and hold appropriate liability coverage

  • Certified or eligible to become a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Pediatric Palliative Care or Pediatric Hematology/Oncology).
