Family Physician - Emergency

Come join the collegial Emergency team in Williams Lake! In this rural community, you can still practice emergency medicine without CCFP-EM. We see a broad range of interesting cases involving numerous procedures and we are well supported by specialists in Internal Medicine, Ob/Gyn, General Surgery, Pediatrics and Psychiatry. Emergency experience would be an asset but we have the capacity to mentor new Canadian graduates or international graduates.

The Cariboo Memorial Hospital serves a population of approximately 35,000 within Williams Lake and surrounding areas with a catchment area of up to 62,000 in total. We see ~22,000 ER visits/year. Our 24/7 Emergency Room has the capacity to be staffed with 8 full-time emergency physicians. In this rural community, CCFP, CCRP (EM) and FRCP Emergency Physicians are all invited to practice in Williams Lake. Shifts are 8 hours but with the option to work a 12-hour shift. Our full-time ER Line is 14 shifts per month with the option to take on additional shifts. You will see a broad range of interesting cases with high volume and acuity. You are well supported by specialists in Internal Medicine, Ob/Gyn, General Surgery, Pediatrics.

The Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) is part of the rural teaching program for UBC Medical School. The ER may have medical students and residents that you can provide teaching opportunities. Within the medical community, there are many other opportunities if you desire to broaden our scope of practice too.
