Position Overview
Working as a member of the inter-professional team, the Physiotherapist will be responsible for providing assessment, consultation, and education to the patient, family members, and the interprofessional team within a variety of program areas including but not limited to critical care, geriatrics, maternal newborn care, pediatrics, respirology, medicine, stroke, surgery & the emergency department. The Physiotherapist provides care to patients of the hospital and its affiliates. The successful candidate will participate in program development, quality assurance, and program. The candidate will actively participate in regular team meetings, liaising with community-based providers, advocating on behalf of clients and their families and participation in interprofessional patient and family conferences as needed.
The primary area of coverage for this role will be within the VENT plus integrated care team. Strong interpersonal skills and interest in community transitions/re-integration will be an asset. Previous experience within respirology and/or critical care is preferred. Previous experience providing virtual care is an asset. This role will require availability 1-2 days per week.
Education
M.Sc in Physiotherapy (or equivalent)
Member in good standing with College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
Additional certification/training in neurological Physiotherapy techniques preferred
Experience
Registration and license to practice with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and in good standing
Recent experience in acute care hospital-based orthopedics, medicine, stroke, and geriatric care preferred
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work and function effectively as an interdisciplinary team member
Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Motivated to practice in accordance with the mission and vision of hospital/health service
Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development
Excellent work performance and attendance
