Psychiatrist – Indigenous Perinatal Mental Health

Mental Health, Recovery Alberta is inviting applications for a compassionate and experienced Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary team at Elbow River Healing Lodge and the Indigenous Mental Health Clinic. This part-time position (1–2 full days per week) focuses on supporting Indigenous women during pregnancy and up to one year postpartum.
About the Role
The successful candidate will provide psychiatric care in a culturally safe, trauma-informed environment alongside a team of dedicated professionals including family physicians, therapists, and a prenatal outreach nurse. Regular collaboration is supported through structured meetings: monthly with the broader care team and weekly with the outreach nurse.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from psychiatrists who are Indigenous or who possess a strong understanding of the impact of colonization on Indigenous mental wellness. Candidates should have:
- A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
- Expertise in trauma-related mental health
- Experience in perinatal mental health, addiction care, and working with Children’s Services (considered strong assets)
