Job Opportunity

We are currently seeking a locum Psychiatrist to provide services on our Acute Assessment Program for the period of August 5-29, 2025. This program provides inpatient assessment and treatment for acutely ill persons with mental illness from across the Central region of Ontario. As the attending psychiatrist for up to eight beds, you will work in a fast-paced environment with a well-resourced interprofessional team to treat a wide range of diagnoses, within a comprehensive mental health institution that provides acute, rehabilitative, and ambulatory care.

Position Qualifications

We are accepting expressions of interest by candidates who:

  • hold an MD or equivalent and certification (or eligibility for certification) in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
  • are licensed or eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario
  • consideration will be given to a senior resident candidate with a restricted license
  • can commit for a minimum of 2-week periods

  • Per diem remuneration

About the Area

Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is located in Penetanguishene, Ontario on the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay, less than two hours from Toronto and approximately 45 minutes from Barrie. Outdoor recreational opportunities in all four seasons abound in this area of natural beauty.
