The Department of Oncology, Division of Radiation Oncology at the Arthur J. E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre (ACCC), with Alberta Health Services is accepting applications for full-time Radiation Oncologists.
The successful applicants will become members of a multidisciplinary cancer program located at the Arthur J. E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre (ACCC) site of the Calgary Zone and will join an existing team of 25 Radiation Oncologists, several of whom work part-time. Experience or interest in lymphoma, palliative radiotherapy, GI, and head and neck are an asset.
The $1.4 billion Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre will be a leading health care facility, academic, and research centre that will provide cancer services for Calgary and Southern Alberta. The ACCC will have 10 Linacs and 2 MR-Linacs at opening with a total of 15 vaults. There will be two MRIs dedicated for simulation and brachytherapy, as well as orthovoltage, a CT simulator, and a PET-CT simulator. We are a full-service program including prostate, gyne and ocular brachytherapy, SBRT, TBI, pediatric cancers, and stereotactic radiosurgery. There are close interdisciplinary working relationships with Medical Physics, Medical, Surgical, Gynecologic, Hematologic, Psychosocial Oncology, and Palliative Care. There are strong research links with the Arne Charbonneau Cancer Institute at the University of Calgary. A full complement of ancillary staff and services are available. Clinical trials and translational research programs are augmented by an annual, centre-specific, Investigator Initiated Trial grant competition.
The University of Calgary’s Radiation Oncology Residency Training and post-residency fellowship programs complement post-graduate training programs in Surgical, Medical, Gynecologic, Hematologic, Palliative, and Psychosocial Oncology. There are opportunities to teach medical students, residents, and fellows from a variety of disciplines.
Qualifications:
- You must have an MD degree and Canadian specialist certification in Radiation Oncology, or the equivalent.
- You must be eligible for licensure as a specialist by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and for appointment to the medical staff of AHS.
- The successful applicant will be expected to obtain an appointment within the Department of Oncology at the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary.
- Experience/interest in lymphoma, palliative radiotherapy, GI, and head and neck are an asset.

- Compensation: Remuneration will depend on clinical experience and comply with the agreement between Cancer Care Alberta, Alberta Health Services, and the Alberta Medical Association. Compensation Grid Compensation range is between Level 1 $416,192 per annum to Level 3 $531,341 per annum. Radiation Oncologists may be either AHS employees or independent contractors.
