Your Opportunity:
In keeping with the Covenant Health’s Mission, Vision, and Values, and as an integral member of the Nutrition and Food Services team, the Clerk III, Nutrition and Food Services (Diet Clerk) is responsible for processing changes to diet orders and meal selection information as requested by the patient or resident or as directed by the dietitian. The position updates computerized and manual systems and distributes nourishment labels, meal tickets, menus and food production reports as required. This position also provides reception and clerical support to the department. The Diet Clerk participates in departmental meetings and programs, participates in the training and orientation of new staff and students and performs other duties as required. All tasks are to be completed with minimal supervision, and following all applicable policies and standard operating procedures. Please note: Classifications Under Review.
Description:
The Clerk III provides a wide range of clerical support, with varying duties depending on the specified program/department. The Clerk III performs these tasks in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: High School diploma or recognized equivalent required.
Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum of 6 months related clerical experience required. Proficiency in office procedures and computer applications in a Windows environment including word processing and spreadsheets required. Connect care and CBORD experience are required. Proficient in typing required. Ability to read, write, clearly speak and understand English required. Basic knowledge of dietary guidelines required.
Preferred Qualifications: Completion of courses in or related to Food & Nutrition with exposure to therapeutic diet writing from a recognized post-secondary institute desired. Familiarity with staff scheduling systems desired. Strong interpersonal skills and training in customer relations. Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadlines. Critical thinking skills and confidence to make decisions to ensure patient safety. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
